TAn v.2 GUI:

is based on a single window, divided in three sections:
  • a pull-down menu bar, with pull-down menus (File, Isosurface, Dataset, Boundary, TF, Window, Help)
  • a view region used for the visualization
    of the dataset;
  • a trasfer function region which implements a unified GUI framework for the interactive setting of the current Trasfer Function, the selection of isosurface thresholds, and the selection of the error threshold for mesh extraction from the multiresolution data representation scheme.

Extraction of meshes at different level of detail:
  • uniform resolution on the dataset domain

it is extracted interactively  based on the current approximation error threshold specified by the user.

Original TurbinBlade mesh: 570K cells

Mesh Extracted: 183K cells

Extraction of meshes at different level of detail [1]
  • variable resolution LOD, based on the current isosurface selection (full detail on dataset area containing the isosurface threshold)

Original TurbinBlade mesh: 570K cells

Mesh Extracted: 40K cells

Extraction of meshes at different level of detail [2a]
  • variable resolution LOD, based on the location in the dataset domain of a focus region (see image below)

Original BluntFin mesh: 222,528 cells (tetrahedra)

Mesh Extracted: 64K cells

Extraction of meshes at different level of detail  [2b]
  • the same mesh of the image above, rendered by zooming on the  higher resolution region (i.e. the subvolume contained in the focusing region rendered in wire frame)
