Meshlab

MeshLab is a Mesh Processing system that is open source, portable (win, mac and linux) and extensible. It is aimed to the advanced processing and editing of large unstructured 3D triangular meshes.
The system is tailored to help the processing of the typical not-so-small unstructured models arising in 3D scanning, providing a set of tools for editing, cleaning, healing, inspecting, rendering and converting this kind of meshes.

VCG Library

A portable C++ templated library for manipulation, processing of triangle and tetrahedral meshes. This advanced mesh processing library is at the basis of all our software tools. Composed by more than 50k lines of code it includes a lot of algorithm for mesh processing task, like high quality quadric  simplification, mesh cleaning, mesh smoothing and de-noising, file format parsing and so on. The library, released under the GPL license is available through anonymous svn.

HPTM Browser

The HPTM Browser is a browser for Polynomial Texture Maps (PTM) with huge resolution. The PTMs are a special kind of textures which contain illumination information stored as a per-pixel quadratic polynomial originally developed by HP Laboratories. The HPTM Browser is part of the Java PTM Library developed by Clifford Lyon.

Metro

Metro is a tool designed to evaluate the difference between two triangular meshes. Metro adopts an approximated approach based on surface sampling and point-to-surface distance computation. The tool is widely used in the surface simplification research community (more than 450 citations according to google scolar).

ShadeVis

the ShadeVis tool computes a simple static, but much more correct, per-vertex ambient term. This effect, commonly known as ambient occlusion, is aimed to provide more faithful simple realtime rendering of rather complex meshes.

TriMeshInfo

TriMeshInfo is a tool designed for the offline inspection of 3D models and to retrieve all the topologically related information. It can be used to automate the process of decoding 3D mesh inherent properties and ease data classification and retrieval.

 DeWall

Two different algorithms for the construction of Delaunay triangulations in 3D (Delaunay tetrahedralization) are contained in this plain old C package. The first one, InCoDe, is an optimized incremental algorithm; The second one, called DeWall, is based on the Divide & Conquer paradigm.

DeWall and InCoDe are subject to the GPL license.
