Spinnable World Maps

Map Interaction:

  • Hold left button and move the mouse to rotate the map
  • Touch and move on the map to rotate it
  • Touch with 2 fingers on the map for move it around the 2 points
  • Double click on the map for reset his position
  • Use the mouse wheel to simulate the Earth's rotational motion

Projection:

No Tiling
  • Click/touch an element of the list to switch the map projection
  • Select "Custom Projection" to load a mesh file(.OBJ) from your device containing the mapping to use
  • On maps where it is possible tiling will appear the "Tile" slider
  • Move the "Tile" slider on "No Tiling" for the normal projection
  • Move the "Tile" slider on "Double Tiling" for a projection tiled 4 times
  • Move the "Tile" slider on "Max Tiling" for a projection tiled many times

Color:

Moon
Area
Meridians
& Parallels
  • Select "Satellite" or "Political" for select one of the two different views of the Earth
  • Select "Solar System" for a map of the celestial body selected in the slider below
  • Select "Distortion" for display how the projection distorts the celestial body
    • Select in the slider below "Area Distortion" to display how the projection distorts areas
    • Select in the slider below "Angle Distortion" to display how the projection distorts angles
    • Select in the slider below "Isometric Distortion" to display where the projection is isometric and where it is not
    • In the red zones the projection increases distortion
    • In the blue zones the projection reduces distortion
  • Check "Meridians & Parallels" for display Meridians and Parallels

Animation:

on Idle
  • Move the "Automode" slider to "None" to block any automatic animation of the map
  • Move the "Automode" slider to "Rotate" to start simulation of the Earth's rotational motion
  • Move the "Automode" slider to "Demo Mode" to start the automatic animation
  • The automatic animation simulate the Earth's rotational motion and change the projection every 10 seconds

Controls:

  • Click the "Reset" button to return the map to his standard position
  • Click the "Get Link" button to get a link who display the actual projection state
